World War One was first started by the assignation of Archduke Franz-Ferdinand of Austria by Serbia, in 1914. On July 28, 1914 Austria declared war against Serbia. Therefore starting the war known as World War I. Since Serbia was allied with Russia this meant that Austria was not only battling Serbia but also Russia. And since Austria was allied with Germany it meant that the European continent was in battle mode. And since Russia was now in the war this meant that France and Great Britain would join forces with Russia and Serbia. Now the only country left was Italy. Italy remained neutral until May 23 and tagged along with Serbia, Russia, France and Great Britain.
The main outbreak of the war was once Germany declared was on the neutral country that was Belgium. France troops raided through Belgium very quickly to reach their fellow opponents at the other end of the river. The battle continued up and down the river leaving many of thousands of died bodies.
